Herbal Hot Cocoa Recipe
Our go-to ritual for a chilly Winter morning is hot cocoa with a little punch of plant love packed in. This recipe is richly chocolaty with organic raw cacao, nutritive with rosehips and shiitake and has a little pinch of cinnamon to tie all the flavors together. We make it in our Enamel Jug for 2 servings made quickly and with easy peasy cleanup.
- 1 1/2 Cups Whole Milk or Nutmilk (Our favorite is Malk Organics because their ingredients are high quality and fresh)
- 1 to 1 1/2 TBSP Raw Organic Cacao Powder depending on how rich you'd like the cocoa to be
- 1/4 TSP Rosehip Powder
- 1/2 TSP Shitake Mushroom Powder
- 1 Pinch of cinnamon
- Maple Syrup to taste (We probably use a lot more than we should :)
Heat milk in the jug on medium heat. Pour in the powders, mix until fully blended with a wooden spoon. Add in your maple syrup, and you're done! Perfect for little hands and adults alike; this hot cocoa is a crowd pleasing, healthful holiday treat.
